Ludlow

Ludlow is “The loveliest town in Britain” said John Betjeman, and nobody would disagree after visiting this jewel in Shropshire’s crown, and seeing its magnificent castle, handsome architecture, and the town’s cathedral-like church. There are many annual fairs and festivals including the Marches Food & Drink Festival in September, and the famous Ludlow Festival in June & July attracts actors and performers from all over the world.

Severn Valley Railway

The Severn Valley Railway is the most relaxing way to explore this magnificent valley of valleys. Travelling the 16 miles between Bridgnorth and Kidderminster there are seven station stops, many of which you will recognise as locations for numerous TV programmes and feature films. For the real ale lover, there is a great selection of beers at the two pubs situated at Kidderminster and Bridgnorth stations – now that’s a location to savour! The gala weekends throughout the year, the 1940’s weekends, ‘Thomas the Tank Engine’ days, the Christmas specials, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. The new visitor centre, the ‘Engine House’ situated in Highley, (opening Summer 2007) is the size of a football field, and houses the reserve engine collection, has audio visual presentations, gift shop, café and picnic areas, and many other interesting features.

Royal Airforce Museum Cosford
