Introduction

The Bull's Head Inn is a superb family owned 18th century Country Inn, set amidst Shropshire's rolling hills, with stunning views over the Severn Valley, Clee Hills, and Chelmarsh Reservoir and Sailing Club. The Inn offers a combination of 8 guestrooms offering bed & breakfast accommodation, and 7 self-catering units ranging from a double bedded apartment to a 4 bedroom cottage. We have three properties that cater for the disabled or those with limited mobility, two are let on a bed & breakfast basis, and one self-catering. The 18th century Inn has many original features such as exposed beams and stone walls in the bar areas, where a good range of traditional beers, ciders, and fine wines are served each day of the year from 12.00 noon. We have a 55 seater restaurant and can also cater for 28 in our bar areas, offering a daytime menu from 12.00 noon until 6.00pm, and an evening menu from 6.00 to 9.00pm. We also offer traditional roast and 'Specials' menus on Sunday from 12.00 noon until 5.00pm. All of our produce is sourced locally, meals are freshly cooked to order, and it is always advisable to book in advance. Full menus can be found on our website. Parties can be catered for and bespoke menus are offered to suit budget and individual requirements.

Pre-Arrival

  • The nearest railway station is Kidderminster, 14 miles away, or Wolverhampton, 15 miles away. The Severn Valley Railway offers a service from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth during the season from Easter to the end of October, and again at Christmas. Details of timetables and availability are on www.severnvalleyrailway.co.uk and the nearest station to the Bull's Head is Hampton Loade. Taxis are available from the stations.
  • 'Whittles' bus company operate a 6 day service (excluding Sunday) using the number 125 service, which operates between Stourbridge, Kidderminster, Bewdley, Highley, Chelmarsh & Bridgnorth. Contact us for a copy of the current timetable. Bus stops for either direction of travel are directly outside the Inn.
  • The Bull's Head is situated in the small village of Chelmarsh, and is on a straight and level road.

 

Key Collection, Welcome and Car Parking

  • Registration, collection of keys and introduction is from 2.00pm until 10.00pm. The reception is directly to the left of the bars entrance, or the owners can be contacted through the bar staff.
  • Late arrivals can usually be accommodated by prior agreement. The Inn has a large car park, and there is separate parking for the disabled directly outside the properties.

 

Entrance to Property

  • Horn's Cottage & Tail End Cottage have front doors which are 750mm/29.5 inches wide, and one step to access into hallway. Entrances all are well lit. Main cottage courtyard area is illuminated until 11.00pm.
  • Fishermen's Rest & Garden End properties have ramped access and door widths of 750mm/29.5inches wide.
  • Baxter's View is located on the first floor above the reception, and accessed through a 750mm/29.5inch door leading to one flight of 15 steps with a rail on the right hand side
  • Apple Tree View is on the first floor with 14 steps and a handrail on the right hand side. There is one step to access the hallway.
  • The accommodation for those guests who are disabled or have limited mobility are Stable Mews,(Self-Catering) & Rooms 8 & 9 (B&B Accommodation), all on ground floor. Halls, Stairs, Landings, Passageways

  • The accommodation for those guests who are disabled or have limited mobility are Stable Mews, & Rooms 8 & 9. The ramped access leads directly into the lounge are in Stable Mews (Self-Catering)Their internal doors are 813mm/32.5inches wide. For rooms 8 & 9 ramped access leads directly into the bedrooms.   • Guest accommodation above the Inn are all first floor and accessed by one flight of stairs.

 

Sitting Room/Lounge

  • Each self-catering property has a different layout and vary in size according to the number of guests that are designed to accommodate. Each has a mixture of seating and sofas, HD television, some with DVD players, and all have sufficient windows and good levels of lighting.
  • Guest rooms vary in size and been designed to provide as much comfort and ease of use as possivle.

 

Dining Room

  • Garden End, Stable Mews, Fishermen's Rest are all ground floor accommodation. Apple Tree View, Tail End Cottage, Baxter's View & Horn's Cottage have bedrooms on the first floor.

 

Bathrooms, Shower-rooms and Toilets

Garden

  • We have extremely well appointed and beautiful gardens which are very well appreciated by our residential & Inn customers alike, particularly when the weather allows. There are 16 tables in the garden area, 14 equipped with parasols, and seat between 6 & 8 people each. 20 hanging baskets decorate the Inn and cottages between May and the end of October. There are slabbed pathways throughout the garden to provide easy access to the Inn & car park.

 

Additional Information

  • Trained assistance dogs are welcome in ground floor properties.
  • All areas of the properties have good colour contrast between the floor, doors & walls. Generally, doors are dark wood and walls are light in colour.
  • We do have an area to safely secure bicycles at night.
  • In the Inn & reception areas we have a large selection of local attraction brochures, bus guides and wheelchair users guide.
  • The nearest General Hospital with an A&E department is Princess Royal Telford, or New Cross in Telford. Both are approx. 15 miles away. There is a minor wound unit in Bridgnorth, the services of 'Shropdoc' out of hours and further information is available in your 'Guest Directory'.
  • The Inn has weekly live entertainment and other themed evenings. Check out 'What's On' on our website.
  • There is free WIFI available in the Inn & garden areas.
  • There are no payphones available within a 4 mile radius. Guests may use the telephone in Reception at a reasonable charge.
